COMPANY DESCRIPTIONS
E.M.S. COMPANY
In December of 1946, a squad was orgionally formed. On June 2, 1947, the fire department considered purchasing an ambulance. In February of 1948 the specifications for the ambulance were discussed and subsequently the first ambulance was purchased - a 1947 Cadillac.
FIRE POLICE
In 1935 it was decided to add the Police and Salvage Company to the Bridgehampton Fire Department. In 1943, Police and Salvage Company also took on the responsibility of first aid to the department. They carried the stretcher, oxygen and medical supplies until which time the Ambulance Company was formed.
LIGHT AND HOSE COMPANY
The Light and Hose Company originated as Chemical Company #1 and was one of the original three department companies in the 1920's. In 1938 this group of firefighters was re-named the Light and Hose Company.
MACK COMPANY
The Mack Engine Company’s origins date back to the earliest group of firefighters in Bridgehampton. In 1939, Pumper Company #1 and Pumper Company #2 were combined and henceforth known as the Mack Engine Company.
PACKARD COMPANY
The Packard Engine Company also originates from one of the early groups of firefighters. In 1926, a Packard touring car was purchased for the sum of $450. This was converted into a chemical wagon and originally known as a Chemical Company #2. In 1938 this company was re-named the Packard Engine Company.
